Imran said that Sania's tennis career had nothing to do with the "mutual" decision of calling off the engagement with her childhood friend Sohrab Mirza.
"It has been mutual. Everything has happened in a very nice manner because both the families are so close to each other," Imran told reporters here. |

Sania Mirza is focusing on winning her second successive mixed doubles title at the Australian Open after crashing out of women's singles.
"She (Rezai) is obviously playing well, She was a seed and it is never easy to play a seed first round. But yeah, of course it is disappointing. But that's the way it is. You just have to look ahead, I guess," said Sania about her first round loss in straight sets 4-6, 2-6 to her French opponent and 27th seed Aravani Rezai.
"No, not at all. I've never had a bad experience; personally I've not had anything. In fact, Australia is one of my favourite countries to come and play and Melbourne is one of my favourite cities, so... I think that is something that is very different to what we are doing, we are here to play tennis," the Indian tennis player said. |

Sania Mirza suffered her fourth successive defeat, a straight set mauling, at the hands of Italian Francesca Schiavone to crash out of the ASB Classic WTA tournament on Wednesday.
The Indian lost 0-6, 3-6 to her fourth seed opponent in the second round of the $220,000 hard court event, thus making a disappointing start to the season.
The world number 17 proved too tough an opponent for Sania as she failed to get on board in the opening set.
Sania has never won a match against Schiavone, with whom she has paired in the past for the doubles competition on the tour. |

Indian ace Sania Mirza opened her 2010 tennis campaign with a come from behind win against Swiss teenager Stefanie Voegele to advance to the second round of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand.
A rather erratic first set which saw 7 breaks of serve ended 7-5 in favour of Voegele as Sania struggled to land her first serve. The second set however was all Mirza as she dropped just 3 points on her own serve all set, and broke Voegele thrice to romp away with it 6-1. The decider, however, fell into the familiar pattern of the first, but this time it was Sania who prevailed 7-5 to wrap up the match in just under 2 hours. |

Sania Mirza attended a fashion charity show presented by Shabana Azmi in Mumbai recently and the tennis star made fashion faux pas on the occasion. Pictures showed that her legs were tanned only up to her ankles showing white feet which were not tanned.
Apparently she was looking like an ugly duckling on the show. Even her dress ill suited her and she looked very out of shape in the attire she wore.
Indeed a fashion fault by the celebrity, the attached pic is proof enough. |
