Former India captain Kapil Dev on Saturday was hopeful that Indian tennis star Sania Mirza “will soon come back to playing in the country” after having opted out of the Bangalore Open scheduled in March.
Sania had recently announced her decision to pull out so as to avoid being dragged into any fresh controversy.Reacting to queries on the sidelines of a seminar here, Kapil said: “Sportspersons are generally emotional. She must have spoken in the heat of the moment. I will give her time to think again. “She loves India, (a reason which) I believe would make her come back to playing the game in her country,” he said. He preferred to stay off any team selection related issues, saying he was “not authorised to speak on it.” |
