Sania Mirza, who won her first ever senior Grand Slam title, partnering compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi in the Australian Open, termed her victory Down Under as a dream that has come true.

Sania, who received an overwhelming welcome on return to Hyderabad, told reporters that it was one of the most special wins in her career.

"Its one of most special wins, it's a Grand Slam. And it's something that we always play for and pray for when we are growing up. So I am just happy that I could win this and achieve a Grand Slam, which has been my dream always," she said.

Mirza further said that Sunday's match was one of the best matches that anybody could play towards the end of the Grand Slam.

"We started off well and then we broke the guy. We were returning and serving really well. Mahesh was little down after his final, the night before. But I am happy that we played one of the best matches. It does not happen often that in the final of the Grand Slam, you play the best match of the tournament," she added.

Sania Mirza became the first Indian woman to win a senior grand slam title when she teamed up with compatriot Bhupathi to win the Australian Open mixed doubles on Sunday.

Bhupathi and Sania won their first Grand Slam together, crushing Andy Ram and Natalie Dechy in straight sets in the mixed doubles final of the Australian Open.

Mirza and Bhupathi rebounded from their loss in last year's Australian Open final to beat Nathalie Dechy of France and Israel's Andy Ram 6-3 6-1 at Melbourne Park.

Sunday's victory was India's second title at this year's Australian Open after 16-year-old Yuki Bhambri had won the junior boys final a day earlier on January 31.
